Tiny Trades is an indoor, trades-themed sandbox experience where kids can dig, build, and learn through purposeful play. Located in the middle of downtown Muncie, we feature more than 800 sq ft of immersive sand play inspired by the trades that build and serve our community.

Sand you
can trust.
A non-toxic environment matters to us, and we stand behind the sand we chose.
01Silica-free and quartz-free. Calcean Baha play sand — heat-sterilized aragonite harvested from the ocean in the Bahamas. Soft, round-grained, dust-minimal.
02Aerated and treated daily. Every day we turn the sand over and treat it with a non-toxic vinegar solution that cleans it and cuts down bacteria.
03Nothing goes in that shouldn't. No food or drinks in or near the sand, ever. Staff watch the boxes all day and pull anything that doesn't belong.
04A deeper clean on a regular cadence. On top of the daily routine, the whole space — sand included — gets a full top-to-bottom deep clean.

My wife Stella and I are Muncie born and raised. We've always loved this community, and we've always had dreams of giving back to it in a tangible way.
When we landed on the idea of investing back into local families and back into the trades at the same time, we knew we had to do something.
Tiny Trades is built on a passion for exposing more children to wholesome activities, and giving families more room to make memories together.

Everything parents ask.
When do you open?
Construction is underway. We're aiming for October, and it may run into November. Our email list hears the exact date before anyone else.
Where are you?
115 S Walnut St, Muncie, IN 47305, in the middle of downtown. There's a lot right next to the building with reserved Tiny Trades spots — see hours and parking.
What ages is the sandbox for?
Ages 0 to 8. Older brothers and sisters are welcome to come along, but the play areas are built for the little ones. Kids 8 and up have Pro Trades.
Do I need to book ahead?
No. Open play is walk-in, any time we're open. You can book a private party or facility rental here.
Do grown-ups pay?
Never. Grown-ups are always free with a paying child, however many of you come.
Are socks worn in the sand?
No shoes and no socks in the sand or the play areas.
Is there a waiver?
Yes, do it online or on paper at the front desk.
What should we bring?
Nothing. Just the kids. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase if you need them.
Can we bring food and drinks?
Yes — food and drinks must stay out of the sand, no exceptions. If you've booked a birthday party, bring whatever you like into the party room, or order from our preferred catering list.
What kind of sand is it?
Calcean Baha play sand: silica-free, quartz-free, heat-sterilized aragonite harvested from the ocean in the Bahamas. Soft, round-grained and dust-minimal. More on the sand.
How often is the sand cleaned?
Every day. We aerate the sand and treat it with a non-toxic vinegar solution daily, the staff monitors the boxes throughout the day, and the whole space gets a deeper clean on a regular schedule.
How long can we stay?
As long as you like. Open play is sold by the half hour and the hour, and you can add hours at the desk. See pricing.
Do you have memberships?
No monthly membership. Instead we sell punch cards — one card covers your whole family, and they bring the per-visit price down by up to a third.
Where do we park?
Five reserved spots in the lot next to the building, plus street parking and the city lots downtown. Details on hours and parking.
